I got up this morning and went down to feed the ladies to find that Meggie had turned her shelter 90 degrees so it no longer faced Josie's crate. Not exactly what I am trying to encourage here, as I would like them to get used to one another. I turned it back and got a horrified look from her before she went back in. If she does it again I'll leave it. Otherwise, she is eating some and using her litter box, so I guess he is beginning to settle in.
Here is her shelter intake picture. Just look at those gorgeous eyes!

(8,614 posts)too cute! Cats do need time to get used to one another. Some take longer than others, you just never know. Hang in there. We're behind you.

(24,293 posts)My Ember has two light weight tunnels and a cube that they can connect to. When I first got them, I set up the two tunnels to connect with the cube at right angles to each other. Ember tugged one of the tunnels away from the cube and took it to a different room. I guess she likes to be able to hide in different parts of the apartment to spy on me.
She also likes to nap in the tunnels. Every once in a while, she moves the one that she disconnected to a different location. But she doesn't tug it with her mouth. She gets inside and scrunches up sections of it with her front paws, then lifts her back paws so that the back section behind her straightens out. This method is slow, moving only inches at a time. She can't see where she's going from inside the tunnel, so she sometimes ends up ends up in weird locations, like between a wall and piece of furniture. So when she comes out of the tunnel and assesses her position, she goes back inside and starts the inch by inch relocation again until she gets to a suitable place.
I have no idea why she does it that way but it is hilarious to watch. Cat logic.
Meggie looks sweet and adorable. She'll find her comfort level and space needs in time.
