Related: About this forumArthur has had it up to HERE with me checking his butt!!!
I can just sense him thinking 'ENOUGH, MOM!!! Leave a guy some dignity!!!!' every time I lift up his tail.
That being said, it's pink almost back to looking completely healthy! Certainly a long way from looking like some sort of angry red bloom. Seeing this healing and made wrestling with him, twice a day, worth the effort to give him that medication.
I'll tell you this. Between worrying about his rectum, Carys' spaying and my head cold, this has been one hell of a stressful week. Now that Arthur and Carys are taken care of, I'm taking care of me. Which means I'm probably going to spend most of New Years Eve and part of New Year's Day in bed. I just wish I could teach them how to make hot toddies. I know Gryff would gladly take on that chore.

It's been so long since I've had a cold, this one caught me TOTALLY unprepared.

(66,035 posts)after she poops. I started using a warm, rinsed out baby wipe (to remove any chemicals they put in it) to wash her little bottom each day. Almost immediately she learned how much better it felt, so now every morning she hops up on the bathroom counter and presents her butt to be washed.
Now its just part of our morning routine.

(27,267 posts)I got into that habit when I was dealing with tiny kittens swimming in their food bowls.
Arthur never acted as if something was wrong. It was noticing how often he was licking that made me check him. After the vet examined him, he didn't seem overly concerned but let me know if I noticed any blood, progression, or change in his behavior, to bring him right back in. I was constantly feeling his sides to make sure I didn't detect any 'lumps' that might indicate retained feces. I didn't want to have to face, again, what I had to face with Morgan. She and Arthur have the same mother so I worried her irreparable colon issue might have had a genetic link.

What strange creatures we humans are, to be discussing the condition of a feline butt, with over 370 people concerned enough to be viewing the discussion.
Our fur babies really have a hold on us.

(27,267 posts)The only up side to not feeling well is I know, throughout today, tonight, and tomorrow, I will have 3 or 4 kitcats cuddled up with me.
I took a nap and woke up to Arthur and Carys. Carys then curled up on top of me and fell back to sleep. It's the first time she's done that during the day.
I notice little things, every day, going in a positive direction. Gaining her trust, as slow as it's been, feels absolutely epic.
