She just called.
This guy helped her through hard times with George. I haven't met the guy, but saw daughter when I was dealing with surgery @ Johns Hopkins recently.

Just learned, and reading up on it now. Getting more upset, as I read, 'cause seems curable with proper treatment, so thinking vet failed to diagnose soon enough to avoid the worst.
P.P.S, 'He is nearly fully blind amongst all of the other awful effects.'
