We got an idea as to the kitten's age, today

The vet said that 10 weeks is a good estimation. Little Moon (aka Eira) had a slight temp so they vet put her on an antibiotic. He said it might be due to the de-wormer medication. They go back in 10 days to start their shots.

Just to be ultra cautious, because of my exposure to Covid, I'm waiting until I'm past the self quarantine state, which ends Thursday. If I test negative, and I have little doubt that I will, then I'll feel more comfortable being in an exam room with the vet. (My friends use the same vet as I do.) I'm going to buy a soft sided, top opening carrier for Carys because I think that will be far less traumatic for her, and FAR easier for me to get her in and out.

Tonight Carys ate her dinner, some of the boys dinner, and then she started on the kibble. I walked in to the kitchen to find her up on the table with Gryff. She's also not scurrying away when I walk by her. I call that progress.

That's good. Sounds like she will come around in time. wnylib Oct 2022 #3

although Ember is affectionate on her own terms and timing, she does not tolerate being held. When she was a kitten, I knew that she had been traumatized in her birth home before I got her, so I did not push the socializing and decided to let her go at her own pace.

But now I wish that, after a few weeks, I had held and cuddled her more. I think she might have learned to tolerate it better if I had.

So maybe as Carys gets more adapted to her surroundings, and as she sees the boys cuddling with you, you might be able to get her used to being held, for a few minutes at a time until she gets used to it.

Maybe not. She might be one of those cats who just won't tolerate being handled. But she's still young enough to try.

And she seems to like getting scritches. Sometimes when I take my hands away she will stay snuggled. Sometimes she won't.

I did notice an easing of her (for lack of a better word) anxiety, today. She spent most of the afternoon out in the open.
