As a father of four children three grown daughters. And a twelve year old son and husband of thirty years I do not do well being alone. My wife is traveling with her work till 21 July several conferences back to back. And my mother in law held her beach house open for this week for this reason. To spend it with her twelve year old grandson and her other young grandchildren. I'm not totally alone my great uncle and our three dogs. Sure is quiet around here without my guitar slinger, he made me smile packing for the beach he took his Prs and a1 watt black star tube amp , his laptop I phone so we can FaceTime have guitar will travel.

(15,077 posts)the empty nest syndrome. My youngest out of just turned 16. Out camping with friends, going here, going there. My house once filled with noise is so quiet I hear the clock ticking. Where I once did, on average, 20 loads of laundry a week; I now do 2 - 4.
We agreed that we would not move again until all the kids graduated HS. So now we live in a house designed for a large family, but only 3 people. Pretty much biding my time to move into a much smaller home in 2 years.
My plan is to have all the kids come home on the same week and take whatever they want. With me having veto power. Then have a yard sale with the rest.

(15,077 posts)But I plan on downsizing, bigtime. We have lived here for 20 years and have accumulated a lot. My next house will have 3 less rooms. So yeah the kids are going to get what they want at some point. I'd like to see them enjoy it.
