All alone here with my thoughts you never stop being a parent.

Had dinner with Michelle our middle daughter tonight made her and my favorite. Puréed pinto beans with cheese added jalapeños onions diced bell peppers hot sauce with rice stuffed in tortilla’s.
She loved this dish as a young child and today as well , I remember her years ago watching her as she was toasting tortillas tonight remembering her in my mind when she was young child all knees and elbows.
Liz would later say she’s all you she’s tall thin doesn’t give two hoots in what another person thinks of her.
This is the kid who told mall Santa that his breath stunk and man that car ride home was emotional. Our oldest daughter who was maybe eight at the time crying in backseat Santa won’t come cuz Micky said his breath smelled.
Liz always the mother this time in damage control was talking our oldest daughter off the ledge , oh Santa will come. On Micks first day of kindergarten we asked Mick how was school do you like your teacher. She had same kindergarten teacher as Heather , Micks reply was she’s old and smells like grandma i said hey a win is a win.

And today I received pictures in email from our son 20 who dropped out of university joined the corps. I know that look as a former infantry soldier he chose same infantry dumb ass.
Yet I’m looking at the pics of 20 on deployment eyes are puffy no sleep skin is weathered from the sun your gaunt from eating maybe one MRE a day then we carried everything. We didn’t have humvees to haul us around yet progress is great these warriors today are awesome yet you smell of inability to wash and C.L.P. weapons lubricants and nicotine.

I love all the kids and grandkids you never stop worrying over them. Well taking my golden chonk for an evening walk have good night D.U. community love to you and those you love.

You so often make me smile and feel good about the world. Yeah, the pup takes most of the credit, but what a team you are.

especially if we know by our own experience might not be the best choice. I keep telling myself you learned from your falls you have to let them fall.

Great that you are so close to your kids. I am pretty close to one of them and so/so with the other.

Having two daughters my life is rich beyond measure.
You can’t control the decisions they make, you can only hope you taught them well to make the right decisions.
I love watching them become the women they are. I will get to walk the second one down the aisle this fall. She is making a life for herself and fiancé.
