Is it a good idea for men in their 80s to become new fathers?

Recently I have read about Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino becoming fathers while hitting the age of 80 (plus). Experience, money, time may be factors but is it a good idea for the new to be raised by someone who is closer to being a great grandfather? Is this a "fad" for celebrities?

I had a large mature tree in my backyard that engendered and nursed a sapling which, over a few years, replaced it. The sapling grew upward as the parent tree receded and died away. Now there is only a rotting stump alongside a 30' oak. It was/is a profound poetry.

But that was trees. Sheesh!

And not anyone else's business. Depending on the circumstances it might not be good if the child can't be cared for. I'm sure their children will be well taken care of.
