Front Entry Doubling as Miniature Greenhouse

I decided to turn my front entryway into a little greenhouse. Basically, all I did was put up shelving. This is a terrific place to start seeds and harden off plants I've purchased from the nursery.

In all, there are seven shelves, with potential for more. Nobody ever uses the front entryway, so I can bring in large pots at night and put them on the floor until the nights get warmer.

All I did was go buy some boards, cut them to size, and paint them white. The brackets for shelving have been there for a long time, but haven't been used. I think the grand total in terms of time and money was something like $3!

i bet you could have found some glass shelves. there is a place near me that recycles building material. they have all sorts of cool stuff. i bought a few glass shelves from them but havent had time to hang them.
it's nice not to block any light.

2. I wish!

I have been trying to find glass shelves for them for years! Been checking Craigslist and watching the bin at the glass place down on Main St., but no luck.

We have a place like yours, but it's a long way away.

I costed them out at the glass place, but they've been taken over by a new guy whose prices are too high.

I'll keep watching for glass shelves, though. They would be nicer.

4. Possible glass shelf source.

A door installation company might have glass shelves. Our old aluminum screen door had thick glass louvers that would make great shelves.
