Welcome. I’m new, too. Try square food gardening. Lots of YouTube videos. We are growing red potatoes in bags. Blackberries, cucumbers, and bell peppers in pots. Pole green beans in window boxes with help from a tomato cage. You just need adequate sunshine, water, and good soil. Good luck.

I have seen tomatoes grown in patio containers. I think many veggies have “container friendly” varieties. What were you thinking about growing?

I've had good results with tomatoes, hot peppers, eggplants, and various herbs in containers. Check out your state's extension service and hit up the public library. Ours in NC are now providing free seed banks.

I get more tomatoes and basil than I need. More greens than I need. Peppers are new addition but so far the plants are growing well.

What Beverage Is Officially Designated as Ohio's State Drink?
Jan 27, 2024In 1965, tomato juice was officially recognized as the state drink of Ohio by the state legislature. The designation was a tribute to Ohio's agricultural heritage and the significant role that tomato juice played in the state's history. Today, tomato juice remains a beloved beverage in Ohio.ng to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Ohio ranked third in processed tomato production (paste, juice, sauce, etc.) and sixth among states for fresh tomato production in 2012. Thx for all those links! Who would ever think Ohio was so high on the list of tomato growing states? You’d think it would be Florida or California.

I only do tomatoes, peppers, and herbs in pots on the deck these days because of the crazy deer population here. But, at my old apartment we trained cantaloupe vines to grow up an existing, tall board fence and used pantyhose hammocks to support the melons. That took very little ground space and was fun to do! We also grew potatoes in a deep, homemade planter box. If you are willing to get creative and don’t mind if things don’t look Martha Stewart pretty, you can grow lots of stuff when you are limited for ground space.
