the circular ones that float need to have full sun, which means your water needs to be in the sun all the time that you want the fountain to work, with the corded ones you can put the solar panel a short distance away and still have some shade on the water.

also watch the little fountain attachments - if they spray the water too high in a breeze it can all blow out of your container and birds will be without or pump running dry can die.

I have gone through a pile of them over the years, some last a long time others not so much. luck of the draw, they all seem to be about the same.

the wind and sun, emptied the bird bath or water feature so fast... had to monitor and fill constantly... wasn't worth the effort

works pretty well - as long as in sun. Mine is in a child's antique tin tub. an electric one would be good - but I didn't want to put any holes in my tub for a cord or pump, so finally found this one.

for a base with the pump on the bottom more or less. I need it to pump to a height of 2'. I don't mind if it even just gurgles but I want to hear the sound of water. Separate solar panels are good as is a 10 ft cord to run it.

I can mount the panels on a fence or make something to hold them.

Just looking for dependability and bird attraction.

Thanx for the info

my current and 3rd one is working nicely I removed the spray nozzles so now it just bubbles up about 2 -3 inches.
which relates to a full bird bath for the morning doves to hang out at after a day of foraging.
