(38,995 posts)My friend who used to live in the mountains covered a hillside with daffodils. She said it was the only flower she'd found that the deer wouldn't eat. It was gorgeous!

(95,066 posts)We have crocus, and it got pretty cold right after they got started. We should have daffodils in a week, maybe.

(27,415 posts)They both just sort of 'appeared' a few years back. At one time, there were Snowdrops growing where the Blue Squill is, now. The Snowdrops just kind of disappeared.
A number of my flowers are courtesy of mother nature. At least that's my explanation for their appearance. I have bird feeders in my front yard so by mid-Summer I'll have a forest of Sunflowers growing in front of the house.

We have daff's, and tulips blooming, but supposed to be in 20's next couple nights.

(27,415 posts)There's a purple one in the back garden. It grows right by a cluster of Daffodils. It's the north side of the house, so they won't bloom for a bit, yet. But when they do, and if they are both in bloom at the same time, it's a beautiful little display.

(24,206 posts)How nice!
I'm doing the annual battle with evil monster weeds already. Have to take a pitchfork and try to life the mass off my lily bulb bed today. Getting a dump truck of cedar mulch next week, will put 3" deep. Die weed, DIE!
I started with one, and now they are spreading in the front garden.
We're going to have a VERY cold night. Thursday through Saturday will be chilly, during the day, but not so bad at night. Then, starting on Sunday we'll be in the high 60's and low 70's. I'm going to spend Sunday puttering around in the gardens and seeing if I can get the mowers started. I think I'll be doing the first lawn mow by the end of next week.
This is my favorite season.
