There has been no trial, no evidence presented, no conviction.
I say this as I have been in a similar situation. Two years ago this month, I was a substitute teacher for a first grade. There were two boys in the class so notorious that I was warned about them by the school nurse, another teacher, AND the Principal. During the day, I kept on the other side of the room from them consistently. Just before dismissal, they slammed my hand in the closet door and I murmured that they were both in a lot of trouble.
And I was suspended for "misconduct". It wasn't until I was interviewed by Child Protection that I was told that my alleged transgression was strangling one of the six year olds. I was at risk for arrest, trial, conviction, imprisonment. And I didn't even discipline either of those kids.
Fortunately, all the children in the classroom were interviewed, and all said that I never touched anyone that day. Plus this suspect child was not taken immediately to a doctor, Urgent Care, an emergency room, and/or a police station.
My guess is that a parent of one of the children saw money by a false accusation, would be paid to "settle" and go away.
