Appetizer: whitefish salad on green pepper strips.
Butternut squash soup to which I have added something new: ground pork in 7-pepper blend (called Pierre Poivre #7). In addition, I made wonton strips with smoked paprika and cayenne. Toasted chili-lime cashews, too.
Coleslaw that I made yesterday from the giant cabbage leaves. After combining flavors overnight, it's really good. Toasted pepitas on top.
Homemade dressing, carrots, onion, garlic.
Kombucha--my home brew with ginger added.
I'm going to fry an apple half in butter and put it over no-sugar ice cream. Got the idea for this right here on the C & B dinner thread.

2 more days of Nativity fast, yay! I don't observe it as strictly as some of my Orthodox brethren, but I do try to eliminate desserts and second helpings. I haven't had ice cream this whole time.

I've been thinking about doing something along that line for a while now. There were a couple recipes there that interested me.

I'm planning on one using watercress for tomorrow!

(34,546 posts)Watercress should be awesome in this salad! Yum.

(37,757 posts)any bitter green to contrast with the sweetness of the pear works good. I have a new crop of arugula and I'm just hoping I can cut it before the deer get to it. They are always hanging around those beds.

(37,757 posts)I found it when I was shopping today! There were several other new versions to their lineup, which I always keep in stock in my kitchen. I got two of the "seasoned vegetable base" made with carrots, celery, onions, and tomatoes.
I thought about the lobster but didn't see myself using it enough, but I see how you used it and now I'm thinking I might.

(6,318 posts)I made vegetarian curry.
Yellow curry, with smashed garlic, fennel and S&P. The veggies are baby Yukons, carrots and peas.
While that was cooking, heated some frozen pot stickers in a little oil to tide me over!
Have some multigrain bread and KerryGold to go with curry-tho would be best with some garlic naan
.
get yourself some frozen naan bread (they have two kinds, garlic and tandoori) at Trader Joe's next time you're by one.
I have been having the best luck keeping all my bread in the freezer and then thawing it in the air fryer when I need it.
I checked all the prices--TJ's has the best price; better than WF or Aldi's and better than ShopRite, too.
KerryGold is the best!
Scampi served over rice. Traditional recipe of butter, olive oil, chopped parsley, white wine, salt and pepper, red pepper flakes, lots of garlic and lemon plus the shrimp.
The salad was a mix of lettuces with red onion, carrots and tomatoes topped with creamy Italian dressing.
