Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumI think I may be finished with my baking spree!!!!
Today I baked a bourbon cake; divided it into 2 loaves. One we will mail to Mr YD's brother in Tennessee and the other I will take to the owner of Acre Distillery here in FW. He has been so very generous with all our Democratic fundraisers. When I am looking for donations for a silent auction ACRE is the first place I call.
So I bought a bottle of his bourbon back in the summer, and Saturday I am taking him the other loaf of cake as a small token of appreciation.
I am going to buy a bottle of rum too . His stuff is very nice.
If you are ever in Fort Worth, stop by and have a drink. Take a tour. Spend an evening in Sundance Square.
I also baked just one more chocolate pound cake. Since we ended up not going to a family dinner on Christmas Day, the one I had in the freezer mysteriously vanished. (there is no way chocolate cake is going to last any time around Mr YD) So I baked one to take tomorrow to the rescheduled dinner.
So since Thanksgiving I have baked: 5 chocolate pound cakes, 3 rum cakes, 1 bourbon cake, 1 coconut cake (with custard) and 3 dozen red velvet cupcakes. Lots of eggs, butter, sugar, flour and vanilla extract.
