I LOVE pea pods. But....

...it seems impossible to get a package of either Asian or snap pea pods where the pods aren't eaten up by some kind of either critter or something that makes blemishes and/or holes in the pod. I'm talking about grocery store goods, not at a farmers market.

And it seems that the growers choose green packaging that hides these flaws. So....

Is there a way to avoid this problem?

I can't think of that kind of market nearby. Maybe next year I will try to grow my own and freeze some. I really love them.

for bean and pea plants. Don’t know your area, I’m in northern Michigan (LP).

We usually get a great volume of picturesque green beans all spring and summer. Snow peas and pole beans the same. BUTthis year not so much. The weather has been way too variable, not only for plants but for the crazy organisms and insects that come at usually opportune times.

The produce wasn’t the best looking but was good to eat.

Don’t know if this helps…plus they shouldn’t try to hide blemishes.
