Related: About this forumI'm kind of down again.
I had the follow up with the psych. I don't think she was too convinced about the validity of my therapist's theory that I have PTSD.

Sorry.
See what Tobin has to say.
Given the choice between long-term and potentially debilitating, and less debilitating, I was kind of hoping for what was behind door no. 2.

(10,420 posts)The important thing is that you are getting the right treatment.
I think what your psychiatrist might be looking at is your improvement with a drug used to treat bipolar disorder. That would be my guess. A doctor is usually loathe to change your treatment when what you are doing is working well.
It may turn out that you have both bipolar 2 and PTSD. So both of your doctors might be right. Hopefully that's not the case, though.

Functionally it doesn't matter.

(10,420 posts)Even if you see this as a set-back, just get up, dust yourself off, and keep going. If you have questions, ask them. If what a doctor is doing isn't working, tell him or her.
I know what I just said can be very difficult to do sometimes, and some may find it impossible without a great deal of help. But I think you can do it now days.

I get knocked down, but i get up again, they're never gonna keep me down

(6,581 posts)The real loser of the evening, though, is a stuffed skunk who just lost tail, limbs, and stuffing. The crime scene is still in evidence on my living room floor, while the perpetrator is now happily asleep on the couch.
