Study: People Who Are Constantly Online Can Develop Mental Disorders

http://charlotte.cbslocal.com/2012/07/17/study-people-who-are-constantly-online-can-develop-mental-disorders

I laughed because I saw some ableist say he wouldn't ever get a mental illness. But besides that, what do y'all think?

I mean, I feel bad if someone doesn't reply back to what I say, I'll admit that much. And I feel much better after reading a book rather than playing videogames. Maybe there's a point to this.

Being a wallflower on the internet is even worse than being a wallflower in real life.

On DU my threads sink like stones. Don't know why I keep punishing myself here!

My impression is that there's a pretty small core of people whose OPs get a lot of replies. I don't think it's "just us" whose posts drift into obscurity; there are just some people with followings (or anti-followings) whose stuff gets more responses.

i think many mentally ill people, especially those with depression, find safe places online, or get caught up in bullshit online that a healthy person just wouldn't spend the time on.
i know that is how it has flowed in my life. it has been a truly golden place to be connected when i feel the most alone. it has also sucked me into conflicts when i am at my most contentious.
it's a symptom.
