I just started hearing the no crunches bit - if you want to do your laundry on your abs, then:

eat a lot of protein
do cardio and lift - lifting burns way more calories than cardio
watch what you eat
try different supplements for recovery, etc.

After that, it's a matter of how bad you want it.

Ninety-eight percent of getting a "six pack" is plain old fat loss. Clean up your diet and move around enough to lose the fat, and a very moderate core workout regimen will do the job.

My Polar said I burnt 2752 calories on my 40 mile ride T-day morning. 40 miles is a lot easier than about 200,000 crunches.
