I'm an al anon type. I haven't been to a real meeting in some years. I still read my daily thought of the day book. Some of the messages are about the function and health of the 'group' itself. I have found it helpful reading when I get perturbed over group dynamics here we DU. If I'm ever awake at that time and you need somebody pm me. I'll at least talk 12 steps with you. Keep coming back!

it depends on your particular addiction, over a decade ago I participated in in the Microsoft rooms (type share) .. I'm a poor typist and the meetings tend to lack spontaneity..

the new breed of recovery groups use voice rooms, and often are very close to their face to face counterparts... many of them use pal talk.. while most of the activity happens around north American time zones. afternoon meetings can be joined in the evening in the UK and western Europe..

I know in my group we have over 30 meetings a week (voices of nicotine recovery)

Including video and chat meetings, online discussion boards, etc.

NONE of them are a "replacement" for real live fellowship. But sometimes they're better than sliding over the edge into the abyss...

Well... I TRIED to post it, but I can't figure out how to turn the frackins smilies off.

C&P it into an address bar and replace the smiley with a colon- : and an uppercase "o"
