Anyone watching "Atypical"? I know zero about autism.
But the story and acting is very satisfying. Have no idea if the actor who has autism is realistic or not. Just enjoyed the show very much.

(2,008 posts)I really liked it, except for the story line with the mom. Just seemed out of place but I guess it must have served a purpose.
If I remember right the actor is not autistic. And I remember that there was some criticism that there were not enough autistic actors/writers in the first season but they did better with this in the second.
I see there is a third season and I don't recall now if I watched that, so will have to go and check. As I said I really liked it.
Edit to add--third season is coming, not showing yet.

(42,770 posts)To me. Guess I just like real people dramas with a little wit and comic relief and sarcasm mixed in. The only one I am not crazy about is the daughter. Seems to overact?
Dead to me with Christina Applegate good. Plus another dimension..mystery

(2,008 posts)I had forgotten to look for it until your post reminded me about the series. I really like the Sam character, and the dad. Sister didn't bother me too much, I figured she's just the overwrought teenager with extra issues due to her brother.
I finished Dead to Me recently and it was good. Will check out Another Dimension.

(22,582 posts)There is another series about a little boy with autism called "The A Word". It was on Sundance TV a while ago and it's a BBC production. It is a fantastic series. There have been 2 seasons already and another one is in production.
Shows a family dealing with finding out their son is different..... it is heartwarming, funny, sad. I would call it a dramedy (comedy/drama). Some gorgeous scenery too.
