Has anyone watched "Dear Child" on Netflix?
I'm 3 episodes in, and WOWZERS! It's a German import which you can watch in the original with subtitles, or dubbed in English (I chose the latter, and it's well done). I'm 3 episodes in and it's CRAZY! I can't really begin to summarize the plot, but if you like mysteries with a side of complicated identities, this might be for you. TW: domestic abuse.

(120,465 posts)I'll stick with the subtitles, though; I hate dubbed dialogue! It always sounds stiff and forced, and the words never come out the same way their mouths move. Drives me nuts; I won't even watch a movie if subtitles for the original aren't available. (I can't imagine making German to English work at all, considering German's sentence structure.)

I watched a Russian series ("The Ancestral Land" on Prime a couple of years ago. It was my first experience with bingeing, and boy, was it good! (Think "War and Peace" set 1920-1950s). It was dubbed and I even learned a couple of Russian words. I don't know if it's available any more though.
