Some of the actors are well-known in movies and TV in Norway - since I'm into Scandinavian mystery shows on Netflix and Amazon I recognized several of them. Interestingly, each scene was filmed twice, once in Norwegian for domestic consumption and once in English for the BBC and international distribution.

Modern day people set in the 9th century.

One of my favorites. Who knew Norwegians could be funny? Which is why I thoroughly enjoyed Lillihammer so much.

and it's often dark and edgy. Norsemen is pretty typical.
