Succession...we just can't.
Gave it a valiant effort, 8 shows, but the ugliness of the characters I find to be a real turn-off. Seems none of them have any redeeming qualities, and I can't find a character who is actually likeable. I can see that in real life (wink wink).
It's a shame, too, because there have been so many articles about this show, I may be party-of-one in not enjoying it.

(186,409 posts)Frankly the writing seems overly uh kitschy. Phrases are thrown out that I dont recognize. Its like the writers are trying to hard.

(6 posts)It didn't bring anything new to the table. Had decent fun watching however.

(106,075 posts)again. I kept watching (for reasons unclear) through the first season and still felt ready to ditch it. But, for reasons unclear, once again, I watched season 2 and finally found it got more interesting. So, now I'm invested and supposedly season 3 ends spectacularly so I will try to get through it on my final month of a free HBO Max subscription.
While I can't begin to say it is among the best shows I've ever watched and the characters are all vying for "most repulsive," its clear modeling after the Murdoch clan is obviously why so many watch it.
So, yeah, it does get better, but the rotation of "deplorable" and who is worse goes on and on.

(4,014 posts)Season 3 just finished and it was killer! Very good change Succession will win the Best Drama Emmy again next year. The writing and acting on this show is in a class by itself.
I'm so looking forward to where this show will go in Season 4!!!!

(60,465 posts)my wife and I decided lots of what's being made is not made for our tastes, age, whatever.
Schitt's Creek, Succession, so many others...
But - Better Call Saul, Six Feet Under, Sopranos - those were our kind of series to binge.

(20,092 posts)My wife and I made it through 3 episodes. There were a few laughs at the absurdity of the characters but the whole thing is just to obnoxious, particularly the Roman Roy character. Not attached to any of the cast, to be honest.
And the show seems so repetitive. Everyone is constantly trying to undercut everyone else and whenever a major development occurs, it leads to one or more problems of equal or greater magnitude.

Don't know any of the names but the home alone actor's brother who is in it. I think he's amazingly brilliant verbally.
