I know it's kinda old now (2017-2018) but just watched Counterpart on Amazon Prime
Starring the always-great JK Simmons. There is only 2 Seasons but it wraps up nicely so you don't feel like DAMN IT when it ends because the writers thought they'd have more time before it was cancelled.
Damn good sci-fi story, much of which took place in the past (relative to the main storyline), and these 'past' things are slowly revealed over the entire 2 seasons ... little mysteries are made understandable, etc ... it really kinda feels like one big long movie.
The acting is all top-notch, takes place in Germany but not that much of it is outside so unfortunately you don't get a lot of the local flavor in terms of scenery but there's some.
If you like mildly sci-fi stuff (by that I mean it's more Bladerunner than Star Wars) and want something new to watch ... I recommend!

(12,855 posts)Wow! A complex situation cleverly presented. I'm a big fan of Simmons, too. From The Closer and Law & Order but mostly as the voice of Cave Johnson in Portal 2.

(33,643 posts)Yeah I loved The Closer. Major Crimes was good too. But it lacked a bit from not having Brenda and Pope.
And I knew Chief Pope was playing Cave Johnson within like the first sentence in Portal 2 ... his voice is so distinctive. And I was elated at the time!
Voice actors for Cave, Glados, and Wheatley were all awesome in that game.

(12,855 posts)In every scene one wonders where are we, who is who, who knows who is who or what is what. And it asks so many tough questions about identity and character. Heavy and compelling stuff. Thank you so much for recommending this.

(33,643 posts)The overall framework of how it's done reminds of the blueprint laid out by the show Lost, but don't worry it doesn't end as stupid or with as many loose ends
