Lionessa was PPR'd - Skinner was right to do that.

Last edited Fri Mar 22, 2013, 10:00 AM - Edit history (2)

omg Lionessa was PPR'd and skinner called her a troll! <---- original title that is wrong.

I saw that in ATA.

Can we say that here? I'm still not sure what is allowed here as an OP.

Maybe we shouldn't talk about it, maybe there's nothing to talk about, but I'm in shock.

on edit, I was wrong. The troll did get hers, I got confused with the names.

My three hidden posts on DU3 were all the result of challenging posters who were later PPRed as trolls. About six months ago I went back and forth with Lionessa and I got a post hidden. Since then I have not engaged because I usually just stop talking to the obvious enemy.

During the battle with Lionessa I read a whole bunch of their posts, including the one you linked. I came to the conclusion that Lionessa is an "internet woman".

I am glad that Skinner has taken action.

jftr - I have yet to encounter an "internet man" on DU. Have you come across any? We surely must have a few.

"Internet woman"--good name for this. I also don't like it when male posters don't make it clear what their gender is in conversations about sexism if there is any confusion in the thread and he starts representing his opinion like he has a female viewpoint. But outright faking a female identity is creepy and trolling. Lionessa did give off that vibe.

No "internet men" that I know of. (I used to get mistaken for a man when I just used my initials before the name change...people seem to assume everyone on the internet is a man unless you have an overtly feminine name or avatar.) But DU seems to attract every type of disrupter, I'm sure there must be a few.

I'm sorry you had posts hidden from dealing with that troll. I've avoided posting to obvious trolls when I can, ever since I got a hide being mean to Library Girl. o.O

All of the crap Lionessa posted about Black voters and then later, pedophilia should have gotten a PPR. I'm glad the troll is gone too, but it is strange that her posts about RCC got her iced, and the racist and homophobic hate speech didn't.

Or is it only me in particular that you feel a need to insult simply because I feel it is inappropriate to use sexist/misogynistic slurs on a progressive message board? Since you have stated that you believe that PC is such total bullshit, why don't you just tell us all how you really feel about us because of our PC bullshit, and call us all a bunch of *that nasty c slur for vagina* while your at it?

The hosts of four groups on DU, Feminists Group, History of Feminism, Feminism and Diversity and Women's Rights have come together to ask for your input on the topic of sexist and misogynistic posts on DU and whether the language of the Terms of Service provide sufficient guidance on whether such posts are acceptable.

The Terms of Service on Democratic Underground are absent of any mention of sexism or misogyny directly. There is a prohibition of bigotry based on gender but we have seen that not all DUers interpret this language to include sexism and misogyny. We are advocating for these bigotries to be explicitly added to the Terms of Service on DU, to aid in our struggles to eliminate these bigotries from DU. We request your input and your support is critical. Spread the news and show your support here:
