Walmart Under Fire for LGBTQ+ Merchandise After Target Retreatshttps://www.newsweek.com/walmart-lgbtq-boycott-target-pride-merch-1802394
Amid a culture-war storm that has hit several American companies in recent weeks, including Bud Light and Target, LGBTQ+ rights advocates and anti-trans activists are now focusing on Walmart's approach to the debate and putting the company's marketing strategy under increased scrutiny.
After calls to boycott Target over its trans-friendly productspart of its Pride season's collectionthe American retailer announced on Tuesday that it was removing some items in its Pride collection.
The decision was seen as a small victory by anti-trans activists, which have appeared galvanized by the retailer's move and eager to put another company that sells Pride-related merchandiseWalmartunder the same amount of scrutiny.

More anti-gay maximalism from the RW usual suspects.

(18,573 posts)4. I think they are probably backing down due to fears of liability. 😔
They're probably afraid of maybe having to pay out on lawsuits or workers comp claims if staff members or customers get hurt. Which sucks, of course. I kind of understand their concerns, but unfortunately giving an inch to these terrorists means they'll take a mile or three. Ugh.
On a more positive note, I went to my local Target today, and I can report that they definitely still have pride merchandise, and it's right up at the front of the store. I don't know how much or what they may have had before the threats, but I'm sure the terrorists would not be pleased by what I saw there today. Just wanted to pass that along!
