Trans teen misses graduation because school was going to force her to wear "boy clothes"

A federal judge in Mississippi denied a transgender teen’s emergency request to be allowed to wear a dress and heels to her high school graduation. As a result, the student missed her graduation ceremony this weekend rather than be “humiliated,” she said.

Last Thursday, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the ACLU of Mississippi filed a lawsuit on behalf of the 17-year-old student, identified as “L.B.,” and her parents against Harrison County School District.

According to the lawsuit, L.B. “entered high school as a girl and has lived every aspect of her high school career as a girl.” CNN reports that classmates, teachers, and administrators at Harrison Central High School have been aware of her gender identity for the past four years, and she attended prom wearing a blue dress without any objection from the school.

which the state where i live (NC) is doing its best to outdo.

we all know there are good Democrats and liberals fighting the good fight in the South. But let's face it, the South sucks for too many people and for no good reason but bigotry and hate. i'm sick of it.

i hate republicans

Obviously the school officials don't care about her or her parents feelings. Making the school district pay out damages isn't going to change that.

People in the district should know how the administrators are failing their kids.

I would follow up with the school board as well, and force them to address the issue.

She could be compensated for her pain and suffering and the school district might just think twice before they do something like that again.

she should sue them. even if she loses, she's the wronged party and will have tried. I hope she sues and wins so much money she'll be set for life.

The US could solve a lot of things by not sticking their noses in others genitals. Republicans have always been fond of checking on genitals. It is none of their fucken business. GOP, Gross Old Pedophiles. Has the GOP ever done anything useful. All I've ever seen them do is promote hatred and persecution, and rake off as much money for themselves as they can. Now, they are The American Terrorist Party. What a god awful bunch.

all the rights we fight for are human rights. according to the values established by the founders, to my understanding, these things should never even be up for a vote, or a law.

yet here we are.
