A doctor sacked from his job for refusing to call a transgender woman “she” is taking his case to the High Court claiming those with “gender-critical beliefs” are being “coerced and threatened”.

Dr David Mackereth was dismissed in 2018 as a disability assessor for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) after refusing to renounce his Christian belief that gender is determined biologically at birth.

He told a manager that he would not call a transgender woman a “she”, adding that his faith meant he could not describe “any 6ft tall bearded man [as] madam’.”

The following year, the Reformed Baptist went to an employment tribunal in Birmingham, claiming that he was unfairly dismissed because of his Christain beliefs. He claimed that the DWP’s refusal to allow him to address a client by their biological sex breached his rights to freedom of thought, conscience and rights to practise his religion.

He is not being forced to do anything.

He has told his employer he is incapable of doing his job properly.

His proper, honest course would be to resign and find something else to do.

He can think whatever he damned well pleases, no one is curbing his religious beliefs in any way. He is simply forbidden to cause distress to other people by acting them out on a captive audience.

I'm beyond tired of people like this "doctor" and their crap. He's free to practice his religion in church... Not at work. The DWP is a government office, not a church. He is a doctor (allegedly), not a minister. Even if he is/was, maybe he ought to try actually preaching the good word, instead of just preaching hate.

Do you know how much basic human respect costs? Nothing. It doesn't cost a single cent to be kind to others, to call a trans or non-binary person by their chosen pronouns and chosen name. It really doesn't. Maybe Dr. TERF here should try it... Maybe so, he'd still have a job.

Meanwhile, it's the same ol' pathetic song and dance out of bullies like him. Misgender a trans person. Deadname a trans person. Show them contempt instead of basic respect and kindness. Then when they do it with the wrong person, a complaint is filed, and they lose their job? WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I'M THE VICTIM!!!!! OPPRESSION!!!!!!!! But what you've done to trans people? All cool, right?

That's assuming people like Dr. MackerOZ here even thinks we're people. The reality is, they probably don't.

Follow whatever religion you want, Dr. Quack.... in church. At home. When you go to work, do your damned job. Which means obeying the laws. Which means treating your patients or clients with respect. Do unto others as you'd want done unto you and all that crap.

Or, as James Tiberius Kirk put it in Balance of Terror: "Leave any bigotry in your quarters. There's no room for it on the bridge."
