Jared Holt reports at Right Wing Watch:
Right-wing persona non grata Milo Yiannopoulos announced that he has adopted a fursona as a snow leopard and that he purchased tickets to a furry convention; in response, organizers rescinded his event registration.
Yiannopoulos posted an email screenshot to one of the few platforms he has lefthis Telegram messaging channelon Saturday and claimed he registered for Midwest FurFest, a convention to celebrate the furry fandom hosted in the suburbs on Chicago this December.
This latest episode involving Yiannopoulos resembles a callback to his signature shtickgoing out of his way to target people who belong to marginalized communities for harassment and hate. And as it has cost him nearly everything else in his career, it also cost him a ticket to Midwest FurFest.

(3,321 posts)Watching this story unfold from the inside, as it were, I've got friends who are on the con board for Midwest FurFest. The furry community has been so far very successful in ejecting and marginalizing the alt-right and alt-fur folks. They have been generally banned from events, removed from premises, and made to feel unbelievable unwelcome in general in the furry community.
This outcome for Milo was inevitable. There was no way a big convention like MFF was going to allow this twit to come and peddle his grift when he's got his history of doxing trans people, supporting white nationalists, and exhorting that lesbians don't exist (??). He thought he'd pick some trod-upon community to peddle his grift to, and he was rewarded with a bunch of attention, but he's going to be disappointed in the long run. We furries tend to be the lowest caste on the internet, so he's going to look especially weak that a bunch of furries are pushing him around.

(1,549 posts)He doesn't really have any ideology other than being an attention whore.
Not Republican. Not alt-right let alone alt-fur (is that really a thing).
He rode with the Republicans because he got attention that way. Then they cut him off.
After losing the Breitbart gig he's been around the fringes of of the dodgier sort of right wing media, but no real publicity.
Raising a fuss by crashing a furry convention may well get him some mention in the mainstream press.
Taking a longer time than one would expect to crash and burn, but that's what he's doing.
We'll see.
