Hamas did not refuse the May 31 Biden Framework. They accepted it in early July. President Biden himself said the framework was accepted by both sides.

It was Netanyahu who refused his own proposal on which the May 31 Framework was based. He refused it by adding two new demands that amounted to no full withdrawal - in essence permanent occupation on the south border and in the middle of Gaza, cutting it in two. He was warned by his own defense and Intel people, and the negotiators that thdemands would kill the deal, and further, were not even necessary from a security perspective. He ignored the advice and apparently convinced Blinken to include them in the U.S. "bridging proposal" which, as foretold, was rejected as it bore little resemblance to the May 31 Framework already agreed to.

So Netanyahu poison-pilled the deal and now blames the other side. Shocking (not really). But it is to despair. He wants the war on Gaza to continue and it seems no one can convince him to drop his poison-pill demands or to stop sabotaging a ceasefire.

Here is my response to you just now on the other thread you linked. You are accusing ME of lying? Wow. Why are YOU doing this??

I should have left you on ignore.

This crazy-making if yours is bad for my health.

A cursory glance of your post reveals that you picked Hamas'immediate response to Biden's May 26 proposal, from a Newsweek article dated May 31. Prior to any negotiations on the deal.

How like you.

This of course allows you to pretend this was Hamas' final position, which it was not. It was merely the first reaction, prior to the negotiators meeting on the deal.

Biden himself confirmed at the end of June that the framework was accepted by both sides. Hamas then confirmed it in early July.

You are being very dishonest.

Now you are back on ignore. I would appreciate it if you would not respond to my posts in future.

Just as one example of the truth of what I've been saying, that Netanyahu derailed the deal, here is CNN's report from today, based on solid sources. I could link a dozen others, with quotes from hostage families, the Israeli negotators, Mosad and even a member of Netanyahu's coalition - all saying the same thing - but I fear nothing will make you take your head out of the sand or change whatever it is that you do.

for originality. And your response is woefully inadequate to address those lies.

The only two demands, which your source claims amount to a "raft" of them, are, as per the cited second-hand report apparently translated from Hebrew:

Among the 11th-hour demands, according to the newspaper, was that Israel retain control of the Egypt-Gaza border area – a condition Netanyahu has since portrayed as non-negotiable, including at a press conference on Wednesday.

---

...among the new demands was that Israeli forces continue to occupy the Egypt-Gaza border area, known as the Philadelphi Corridor, and maintain a 1.4-kilometer perimeter in Gaza along the Israeli border. The newspaper posted maps reportedly from the late-July Israeli response. The original May 27 proposal, according to Yedioth Ahronoth, offered an eventual full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

These are neither new nor do they contradict anything Biden proposed in May. Biden's proposal never stipulated that demilitarization of the Philadelphi corridor is to be accomplished during the first stage of the cease fire, and Netanyahu, as well as his team of negotiators, only insist on the demilitarization is to take place after all the hostages are returned, i.e. at the very end of the first stage. And, I already pointed out that control of the Philadelphi corridor, according to israeli negotiators, does not have to include the presence of IDF. Once again, fully consistent with Biden's May proposal.

Furthermore, the Israeli negotiating team is in Egypt trying to work out the different (and evidently false) interpretations of the Biden proposal, and Hamas is conspicuously absent. So you will have to explain how it is possible for the party ready to negotiate to be obstructing negotiations, and the party absent from the negotiating table to not obstruct them.

Quite a challenge, I am sure. Good luck searching for sources more reliable than hearsay translated from a foreign language.

Bibi doesn't want a cease fire, or the hostages returned. The longer this war stretches out, the longer he is safe from prison. That is his only goal at this point, to avoid a trial, prison. If he accepts a cease fire, his far right wing allies will abandon him, cause his coalition to collapse, new elections to be called. Elections that would likely see Bibi and the Likud party get trounced at the polls, and Bibi out of office.

there is more to it than that .....he is fighting for his legacy , his place in history .
It was so obvious during his last televised address ......it was all me me me ,
I did this , I said this .
You know what the Likudniks chant at him ...." Bibi King of Israel "
Thats what he is trying to hold on to .
Its ego and megalomania.
BTW he lied so many times during that speech it was laughable .
The TV channels had him on a split screen .....every time he lied there was an expert calling him
out .

Bibi will continue to push against Hamas and the Palestinian people.

And Hamas will realize keeping hostages isn't working. Expect more dead hostages.

I lament at the deaths of the Israeli hostages, as do many Israelis.
We see them on TV a lot.
People in Israel and the rest of the world need to realise that on the Palestinian side, the anguish over murdered relatives is repeated many times over.
That just doesn't make it onto Western TV.
