That they aren't a bunch of fascist thugs.
Working so far.
Were the Israeli cops thinking? Let them have their damn funeral procession in peace. Terrible look for the cops, and the Israeli government.

(3,213 posts)5. Was just reading more context on this
from the Washington Post.
They state that a Palestinian Nationalist group grabbed the coffin from the journalist's Christian family and wanted to carry it on their shoulders on another route not approved by the Christian family.
Rocks started flying from some of the Nationalists, which is what prompted the police to get involved.
Every story I've read says the Palestinians took the coffin away from the journalist's family. Her brother actually screamed at them.

If its the second one they go one to note,

To me it seems there is a lot of anger there, on both sides. I cant see any justification for attacking people carrying a coffin though.

Police said the crowd at the hospital was chanting nationalist incitement, ignored calls to stop and threw stones at them. The policemen were forced to act, police said. They issued a video in which a commander outside the hospital warns the crowd that police will come in if they dont stop their incitement and nationalist songs.

Israeli police later escorted the casket in a black van, ripping Palestinian flags off the vehicle as it made its way to the church.
