(4,290 posts)Bibi's goose is cooked .......the anti-Netanyahu wing of the Knesset now polls at 75-77 seats.
Worry more about who might replace him , it wont be Gantz thats for sure .

(6,891 posts)wing consists of a bunch of right wing parties, Arab Joint list (which is beset by its own internal squabbling) and a myriad of left, and left of center parties. Those left/left of center parties will have to unite into a joint list of their own, or they could be on the outside looking in with not enough votes to even have seats in Knesset.
Is that fairly accurate?

I dont agree , read this and pay attention to who wrote it .....Limor Livnat !!!

The political board has been upended. Most of the Israeli public might be right-wing, but they are not necessarily Likud voters.
As for your last post ......they are all juggling right now , who can tell what might happen .
I for one would love to see the Centralists join with the Left and the Arab joint list but im not holding my breath

(6,891 posts)Joint Arab List may not be a joint list from what I have been reading. Lots of internal squabbling. I am also worried that some of the center left/left wing parties may not cross the threshold. And if they do cross the threshold they will be small in numbers and weak.
And the center right/Right wing is just as splintered. Going to take a lot of work to get a working coalition together.
Can you imagine a coalition of Lieberman, Sa'ar. and whomever else the can convince to join a coalition? I am not sure they would have enough mandates to get to 61. Both Lieberman and Sa'ar have said they won't join a coalition with Bibi. I know Lieberman also said he won't join one with any coalition with the religious parties. Has Sa'ar made any similar proclamations?
Is there any chance that Likud will dump Bibi? If that happens all bets are off on what the next election will bring.
If Bibi is still in charge, there may be another round of stalemated elections IMHO.

Zeev Elkin blew us all away on live television .
There is a good article about it on Haaretz but its a subscriber-only article.
Allys Brutal Betrayal on Live TV Shocks Israel and Mauls Netanyahu
Former loyalist Zeev Elkins scorching condemnation of the prime minister provided political melodrama of Shakespearian proportions.
Frustrated by the governments decision to impose an extended total lockdown from Sunday, overwhelmed by the ongoing misery of COVID-19, and increasingly disgusted by successive dysfunctional governments, Israelis were nevertheless stunned by the bloody political drama that unfolded on their television sets on.....
