Netanyahu fails again to form new Israeli government, opening door for political rival

https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/21/middleeast/israel-netanyahu-government-intl/index.html

What are the chances that Gentz will be able to form a coalition?
Blue/White have 33 mandates
Joint list 13
Labor/Gesher 6
Democratic union 5
That is a total of 57.
They would need either Likud (sans bibi) or Yisrael Beiteinu support to form a coalition.

They MIGHT be able to form a shaky minority government with 57 seats, with YB giving support to the coalition without officially joining the coalition.

They just have to talk liberman into sitting with the arab parties. Maybe they could give him some private assurances or something.

A third election will accomplish nothing, the results of the second were almost a mirror image of the first.

There apparently is a way for the Knesset itself to vote in a new PM with a majority. I think that might be what happens.

what will happen is a minority government with YB supporting the government without actually joining it.

If the Knesset itself does vote in a new PM with a new majority, let's hope that Israel votes somebody into office who's better and less stiff-necked than Netanyahu.
