First F-16 Fighter Jets Arrive In Ukraine
Thanks to the leadership of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, today, the Ukrainian military received its first shipment of F-16 fighter jets. The fourth generation fighter jets arrived today after Ukrainian fighter pilots have spent months training to operate the jets.
The deadline to transfer the U.S-made jets was the end of the month, so the United States respected the timeline and ensured that the Ukrainian army would have the jets well in advance of winter in Ukraine.
The transfer of the fighter jets represents a major win for the Ukrainian army which has struggled to gain air superiority against Russia as the Ukrainian army does not have a strong air force. The F-16 jets will allow the Ukrainians to combat Russian air operations and even potentially target Russian military instillations near the border that would be used to target Ukrainian territory.
Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine has now entered its third year and there do not appear to be any signs of stopping from Vladimir Putin. However, despite claiming that he could once take Kyiv within just a matter of days, more than two years after he launched his invasion, the Russian army has lost thousands of troops, thousands of pieces of military equipment, and millions of dollars in production value.
