Charlotte, NC: With gas prices low, transit ridership declines

This is one of those websites that won't let me cut and paste. It could be my browser.

With gas prices low, transit ridership declines

By Steve Harrison

Transit ridership in Charlotte has declined for much of this year, possibly because of lower gas prices.

For the calendar year, ridership on buses and the light-rail line is down just under 4 percent compared with 2014, and was down more than 8 percent in May.

I still think this is the easiest way to get money into poor and working class families pockets. Lower gas prices do save the poor and working class who own a car with lower gas prices and saving transit money for themselves. And since it's difficult to cut this is one way to cut the already lean budget. Trying to be glass half full.
