It's that time of year for "Free Food" again!

Every year we put a post on NextDoor asking for peoples Halloween pumpkins, and every year we get a years worth.

Just had my first slice of this years batch of fresh home made pumpkin bread. Bid dab of butter...delicious.

What are your preferred ways to preserve months or years worth? Drying the pepitos and freezing the "meat" straight up in freezer bags, maybe?
Not that familiar with dealing with long term pumpkin or other winter squash, but we have more time than money these days.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the seeds make a great pine nut substitute in pesto, as well as about any other dish for which one might use nuts or sunflower seeds etc.

This got me thinking about a great pumpkin drop off, but for how full our freezer is in these covid days.
A frugal life can be full of riches when done with style and creativity.
