any smokers in here?

i order online from these guys-
http://www.smokes-spirits.com

direct from the senaca nation. $35/carton!!

they also sell cbd pre-rolled. those are $100/carton. but love them. when i need one, i dont need to fiddle w rolling.
they have cbd hard candies, too.

i used to smoke american spirit, and when i looked into buying online, i found these guys. taxes are high here, and i was paying $15/pk.
so, from $300/mo to $70/mo. that's what i call frugal!

1. Anyone Can Grow Tobacco Successfully!

https://dengarden.com/gardening/Tobacco-Growing-and-Curing-at-Home

"Virginia tobacco, the stuff of commerce, is one of the hardiest plants you'll ever grow. If you live in a place that's warm enough to grow cabbage, tobacco will thrive. If it's warmer, that's even better."

I quit 6 years ago, but I am cheap and had thought about this years ago.

I'm a professional yard sales addict. Save a ton on things I need and make a few bucks reselling. This year my best was a man's watch I bought for one dollar and GF sold it on eBay for $400. I gave it to her to help her afford Christmas for her grand kids.
I love finding things for friends. 2 weeks ago a friend said he loves cross country skiing and like to teach kids how to. Said he was looking for some cheap ones. I found 2 pair last Saturday with poles for $4. Turned out to be really nice ones made in Austria.
Being retired for almost 20 years, it keeps me busy.

2. i got an extraordinary gift this year. 3 small tobacco plants, w some serious history.

it was the original american tobacco. dont remember the species name. arugosa?
but it was a gift from the guy who runs the urban ag program at loyola here.
he grew it from 20 year old seeds. they were from the seed collection of john swenson, iirc, who was the granddaddy of the seed saving revolution.
he gifted his entire seed bank to the seed savers exchange. that's how the guy got them.

the historic nature of the gift just flat out humbled me. they did fine, and i have a big stock of seeds for next year.
i was told this stuff is so strong it takes 3 yrs to cure. i didnt get around to harvesting any leaf. but i think that it could be made into a tincture. which i would love, since i have lung issues and am stupid to smoke.
i dedicated a new hugelpile to it. it doesnt like full sun, so i am building an understory for it. i used to have a hoop house on that spot, and i had just taken the sheeting off.
i planted some vines up the sides, but it's been hella hot and dry and they didnt do that well.
i will plant a couple of olive trees on the south end before it gets any colder. there is a wild grape and an old mulberry that refuses to die. so, they didnt get completely baked. looking forward to next year.

i live in rogers park, named after the dude who conned the pottawatommi out of their land. 1 blk away from rogers ave, which used to be called indian boundary rd.
there is an indian boundary park, and a pottawatommi park near by.
and ridge ave, 3 blks east is the old shore of lake michigan. further north of here it is called green bay road, and yes, goes all the way to green bay.

it ain't pretty for Native Americans. This Reservation was cut out of a malaria swamp in the 1850s for the Saginaw Band of the Chippewa. Then lots of it was bought by loggers in the 1860s for small sums.

havent been able to get a definitive answer. but saganash is a hood west and south of mine, so..
and yeah, most of the natives that live in chi live in uptown, where the addicts and mentally ill got dumped by st ronnie.
and now that it is a tony hood, they are squeezed out.

7. THE THREE FIRES: OJIBWA, ODAWA & POTAWATOMI
Tue Oct 27, 2020, 07:29 AM
Oct 2020

The three Indian tribes most commonly associated with Michigan are the Ojibwa (Chippewa), the Odawa (Ottawa) and the Potawatomi. Closely related in language and culture, these three tribes interacted with each other like members of a family. The Odawa and Potawatomi called the Ojibwa “older brothers.” The Odawa were next born and the Potawatomi were the “younger brothers.” Together, these three tribes formed the Three Fires Confederacy, a loose knit alliance that promoted their mutual interests.

The French called the older brothers of the Three Fires the Ojibwa. Translated, this means “to roast ’til puckered up,” describing the unique style of moccasin these people wore. The Ojibwa, a tribe of approximately thirty thousand people, lived along the southern shore of Lake Superior. They maintained a large fishing village at the rapids of the St. Mary’s River (present-day Sault Ste. Marie) and were renowned hunters and fishermen.

so, i am a proud alum of waubonsee community college, named after the pottawatommi chief. about 50 mi w of chi in sugar grove, il.

he is my candidate to replace ole chris columbus now that we have toppled him.
the school has an extensive collection in the library of all kinds of stuff. and they have a huge oil of him in the stairway. he was a handsome devil.

a fun fact about me- my only elected office was student trustee at wcc. i was the 1st. i campaigned on a better student health insurance plan. i couldnt improve it, but we did get the price down a bit.
74-75

in 2012, i faced my second actual election. i had been appointed then re-elected by acclimation several times to the board of 49th ward dems. we never had more candidates than seats.
but that year, we had 13 candidates for 12 seats. i was second on the ballot, after an irish kid who had just joined. we joked about being shoe ins.

but our guest speaker that night was lisa madigan, the ag. she had done something that pissed off the teachers. so, half the ppl there were ppl we never saw.
well, during the meet and greet, i chatted up a nun, a regular. the longtime catholic hs had been turned into a spanish language charter. we also have a math and science charter here that was on the us news list a year 2 ago.
so, i am a charter school supporter. i raised 5 crazy geniuses in the city. been in every part of the system. one size does not fit all.
so, a teacher started spouting the standard talking points at me, and i countered w my experiences. he said- well, um, who told you your kid was gifted.
i ran right out of fucks. guess who got voted off the island?
i'm sure some of those ppl werent actually eligible to vote. but...
i actually laughed my ass off when they told me.

Is it legal? For several years we bought online cigarettes that came out of New York and the company was shut down and we lost what we had paid on our last order, which was $100. It was four or five cartons. I then got a notice that it was illegal to be buying from them.

We have switched to Clipper cigars, which actually taste like cigarettes and we smoke menthol, which would be comparable to a Salem light. My state doesn't tax cigars like they tax cigarettes so two cartons is a bit over $21.
