Why MAGA suddenly loves solar power

However, Miller said she was not being paid by AEF or ACP for her posts or her podcast.

“I do not have a paid partnership with them,” she said in a statement. ACP declined to comment on whether it paid or partnered with Miller.

In addition to vehicle manufacturing, Musk’s Tesla also produces solar panels, but the business that formerly operated under the SolarCity brand has seen its share of the market drop sharply since it was brought inside the larger company in 2016.

The MAGA-focused solar re-brand comes as surging utility bills and construction of new power-hungry data centers serving the artificial intelligence boom at the center of Trump’s economic vision will squeeze voters’ finances — and threaten the narrow GOP hold on Congress.

Many of the president’s backers believe the fresh data points about Republicans’ support for solar energy will create space for Trump to ditch policies that have stalled the growth of solar, helping him accomplish goals to buoy U.S. manufacturing, tame prices and bolster data center operations.

The X feed of right-wing firebrand and podcaster Katie Miller has all the signatures of an acolyte of President Donald Trump. She blasts out attacks on the “transing” of kids, taunts the mainstream media and lobs slurs designed to trigger the left.

But recently that Make America Great Again fire hose has also contained posts that seem off-brand for the former GOP official, whose spouse is Trump’s domestic policy chief Stephen Miller.

“Solar energy is the energy of the future,” Katie Miller posted recently. “Giant fusion reactor up there in the sky — we must rapidly expand solar to compete with China.” Another of her posts suggested solar is more vital to the U.S. than coal power, contradicting White House messaging and policy.

Trump has been blunt about his distaste for solar panels, calling them a “blight” on the landscape, “very inefficient, and very ugly too” and — along with wind turbines — “THE SCAM OF THE CENTURY.” His administration has blocked hundreds of projects from final approval as it prioritizes fossil fuels.

And our electricity bills have been very high for a long time now. I was very pleased when by dad thought we should get solar panels. I have been too preoccupied with too many different things to pursue it myself.

It makes so much sense for us given the blistering heat here for much of the year. But then he heard some lame crap online and changed his mind, which was very disappointing. He is fairly reasonable overall, but he detests our communist cm, as do I. I live in one of the few communist states in the world and left as I am, even I dislike our cm. He is just a sleazy mercenary anyway.

But though our cm is legitimately a corrupt creep, this is one of the rare industries (like artificial meat, marijuana, plant based foods or pharmaceuticals) even I back. I am pragmatic enough to back the few things even I need like electricity, indoor plumbing (my favorite human invention to date), modern medicine, the minimal amount of tech even I need (a computer/Mathematica/Matlab/Sigmaplot) and clean food.

I keep trying to make lists of things where I can find any common ground with…well..you know..people and society broadly..lol

It is not going well so far..the lists are very small and I frown over them trying to work out what I am missing.
