This concoction of methane, excessively salty water, and hydrogen sulphide means nearly everything that crosses its path is killed. This death pool is four times saltier than the ocean waters around it, which ensures these bodies never mix.
The murderous underwater lake sits nearly 3,000 feet below the Gulf of Mexico. Its briny waters are so dense the death trap has been dragged to the bottom of the gulf and cannot mix with the rest of the ocean. Underwater cameras reveal how these toxic waters slowly disintegrate unfortunate crabs and fish that end up in the death zone.
The Jacuzzi of Death is 3,000 ft below the Gulfs surface.
Nearly all creatures that unknowingly enter the area die.

A Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico has been growing for decades. Pollution, sewage treatment plants, fertilizer chemicals from farm land, beef production, and other sources along the Mississippi River wash into the Gulf of Mexico, causing algae blooms that deplete oxygen from the water, endangering marine life. Now we have discovered at least one death jacuzzi at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
Analysis and imagery: NOAA
Some researchers assess that we are the last generation to enjoy genuine, safe ocean seafood. Unless marine pollution is stopped, the analysts are correct. President Trump ordered the Gulf of Mexico be renamed the Gulf of America, but the AP style guide continues referring to it by its original name, as will Coriolanus.

(2 posts)Worse of all, the the DC chemicals that were supposed to clean up the oil sank carto the bottom of the Gulf, the shellfish were wiped out, but the fishing companies were happy to have the Govt claim everything was fine to eat. Ala.was happy to spend the disaster funds on tourist advertising. The tourist industry invested in stand alone, water faucets at the beaches so you could rinse the oil covered sand of your body from swimming and wading at the beaches.
Boats dragged oil catching booms alone the water before dawn and trucks ran sweepers to pick up sand congealed tar balls along the beaches before the tourists were up for the day.
Straight out of "Jaws" movie.
Same Government thinking here kept beaches open during Covid so there would be no loss of tourist money.

Perfect timing. #47 can re-name it the "Gulf of Death" for all I care.
What a cover up about the beaches.
Looking at the map below, US and Mexican fossil fuel companies both did this.
