@ my daughters' first school this week, EDUCATION!

'As we said goodbye to summery weather last weekend, our Pre-Primary students bid their own fond farewell to their classroom collection of Painted Lady butterflies. This special singing meeting was the culmination of a weeks-long study of caterpillar/butterfly life cycles and migration. The work touched all aspects of their learning, like discovering the Spanish words for caterpillar (oruga) and butterfly (mariposa), designing butterfly wings in art class, making detailed observations in the STEAM lab as the caterpillars reached each milestone, and sharing new songs and rhymes about the fanciful insects.

Finally each butterfly emerged from its chrysalis! After drying their wings and gaining strength for several days, they were ready to fly solo. Audrey helped our young students to serenade the butterflies with tunes like "Bonnie the Beautiful Butterfly" and "Mariposas," which uses Spanish and English to wish them well on their long flight to Mexico, or wherever their wings will take them. Pre-Primary students were delighted to see each butterfly take off. There were excited gasps and enthusiastic waves from everyone in attendance!

Sadly daughters graduated years ago, and they and their kids live elsewhere now, so not available to my grandkids.
