You may recall that President Trump held a border wall rally in El Paso on Monday and that his eldest child, Donald Trump Jr., made a speech that roused the crowd.
The presidents son drew cheers when he urged young conservatives to bring it to your schools (though he didnt say exactly what it was) because you dont have to be indoctrinated by these loser teachers that are trying to sell you on socialism from birth.
The comment drew response on social media from teachers and others who dont see educators in the same way as he does, with the hashtag #loserteachers. For example:
Proud to be one of the #LoserTeachers indoctrinating my students with lessons that teach critical thinking, communication, mindfulness, & empathy. I teach my students to write, to question, to imagine, to visualize the words in the books we read & the future they wish to lead.

In this post, three teachers explain why Trump Jr.'s comment was more than simply mean.
Snip.
Research by the United Nations has shown that the globe is spinning toward a dramatic teacher shortage, with analysts predicting a shortage of 69 million teachers by 2030. This is the crisis we should be talking about.
Weve seen overcrowded classrooms, long working hours, lack of professional development, burn out, low salaries, terrible retention rates and teachers across the United States striking to demand better teaching and learning conditions.
How does Donald Trump Jr.s description of teachers as losers and the encouragement of hostility toward us solve these problems? How does it ignite passion in a new generation to pursue the worlds most important profession?
Snip.

(11,885 posts)He has the same tells, and uses this style of propaganda by accusing others of what they want to do to schools students, indoctrinate them like they do in China and elsewhere to promote their propaganda with at an early age. They used this in Cuba also to make the children believe what they wanted them to believe, for THEIR communist party. Just look at what he accuses others of and you'll be closer to the the opposite of the truth from this family.

I told her that teachers in Va are really low paid (they are finally getting a raise thanks to McAulliffe and Northam) but that's what she wants to do.

(13,359 posts)paperwork. I could elaborate, but what's the point?
The beginning of each year was the same. "We know you have a lot of paperwork, records, parent communication, grade calculation -- sometimes on a daily basis. Now, here's more.
EVERY teacher I began work with, can't wait to get out.
By the time I retired, I did feel like a loser.
Then, the pensions were attacked by Chris Christie. Our local newspaper has calculated that we lost 15% in increases we were promised because of his pension C.O.L.A. freeze.
