It took me 7 months to find a contract job

last year. I really don't like the job that much, but I took it because I was desperate. Its supposedly contract to hire after 6 months, but there is no guarantee.

Today the manager from a job I interviewed at in October emailed me to ask if I was still available. It was something I really wanted and was disappointed I didn't get it. Had a phone interview and 2 in person interviews, heard nothing and then finally got a "no".

So I emailed back and said I was a couple of months into a contract but I would be interested in making a change for a permanent position.

I am wondering what will happen next - are they going to re-interview me or make me an offer? Or was she just testing the waters? I think they interviewed a lot of people the first round.

You told them what you want and they can come back with an offer or not. Don't know what field you're in, but I certainly wouldn't do more than one more interview with them, and that only if you really want the job they're offering.

Stated last week, today they announced they lost a big contract that could affect employees.

Why did she even contact me to ask if I was available? It got my hopes up only to be disappointed again.

as to why she contacted me.

She emailed me back a few hours later and apologized - said she jumped the gun. She had an open position but it has to be posted and it isn't the same one I was interviewed for. Not really a match.

I am so irritated. I'm really unhappy in my current situation working for a micro-manager control freak.
