Canada express entry program for construction trades.

Talking with my son 20 as he’s first year trade union apprentice and in that Canada will take trade workers through what is the Express entry program.

As his union has chapters all throughout Canada in that he will eventually be able to apply for work permit once a Journeyman then permanent residency then citizenship with the guidance of immigration attorney.

As there is nothing left for him here with the way this country has gone since Reagan Bush or Dubya and Trump.

20 is young no wife or any attachments this will be his shot to have a better life.

In thinking my ancestors immigrated from Habsburg empire for a better life. From western and eastern Galicia only to find another bleak existence as in coal mines company stores company housing.

And we’ve pissed it all away for what our people fought for by organizing.
Because people want to live in Jesus land under a wannabe Dictator.

Would be interesting to hear what the statistics are on number of people from the US, taking Canada up on this. Lots of Hispanic immigrants to the US are in the trades and will be especially interesting to see if many of them go for this. Many folks think fondly of Canada until they realize how far north and how cold much of the country gets in the winter. Moving from north tier US states may not be a shock in that regard but moving from TX, CA, FL, AZ, etc. will be.

However, he should know that Canada is on the verge of electing its own mini-Trump.

There has been a tightening of immigration rules recently, so hopefully your son can get PR status before the door slams shut. Immigrants are being blamed for everything from high housing costs and scarcity to the low wages (temporary foreign worker brought in to work low paying jobs). Currently the family sponsorship program has been severely restricted, otherwise your son could sponsor you to emigrate. Hopefully that will change down the road.

If he hasn’t decided yet, have your son check out Vancouver island; outside of the Victoria area, housing costs are cheaper on the island than on the BC mainland, and the Island has the best weather in Canada! Lots of construction going on - Nanaimo is building lots of apartment complexes.
