Hillary Clinton

Hi, all.
Maybe I'm naive, and I haven't read the indictments (I've just heard/read some of the reporting) but I think that the Russian trolls promoted Bernie primarily to weaken Hillary, in the primary, because they thought he would be easier for Trump to beat than would Clinton.
What do you think?

All that division in 2016 here was planned in Moscow. Crazy ain't it?

(2,074 posts)I think they promoted Bernie and promoted memes among Bernie supporters that would weaken Hillary in the General. I don't think it was about helping Bernie win the Dem nomination (that would have been a long shot), but about using him to divide the Dems in order to help Trump win the General against Hillary. And indeed, I think that the Bernie campaign, due to its divisive rhetoric and Bernie's decision to go on running long after he could not longer win, combined with Russian bots who pushed the idea that Hillary robbed him of the nomination, did play a sigificant role in the outcome of the general election.

(42,862 posts)... memes, rumors, innuendos, exaggerations and lies... and use them for their own purposes. The smear of Hillary being "unqualified" was one of the worst that Trump picked up on and used throughout the rest of the campaign.
