I new mode of spamming

Yesterday got a call on my land phone - the main contact, really). I did not reply and the "caller" left a message to contact Apple support by pressing 1. I ignored it, the way I ignore any call which does not ask specifically for a member of the household.

This morning, while opening my Yahoo Mail (I use it in addition to my Mac Mail) there was a message, addressed to a former address which I no longer use, but is used by spammers - "alerting" me that my Apple ID has been disabled due to "suspicious activities." I am not even sure what an Apple ID is but I don't think I have one. At the end of the message, "detailing" the suspicious activities, I was told to hit a button labeled "Login Apple"

It went to the trash with an alert to Yahoo that this is a spam.

Interestingly, when I tried to copy and paste the "alert" into Apple community, all I got is a page full of numbers and symbols which I promptly deleted.

Nothing new. Spam phone call was probably coincidental.

As far as an Apple ID, if you are on a mac or an iphone/ipad or use iTunes, you have an Apple ID.
