Gmail is randomly deleting some of my mail.

I first noticed this about a week ago. There were some important emails that I needed to pull up and I couldn't find them anywhere. I searched everywhere, did word searches, etc.

Nothing.

I knew exactly what day I had initially received them and when I had responded.

Nothing in either sent or received.

I thought maybe I had just screwed up.

But then I went to retrieve another email yesterday and it was gone.

And then another today.

Gone.

And it's totally random as far as I can tell.

FWIW, I haven't deleted a single thing manually since I first noticed the problem.

Anyone have any idea what might be going on here?

Just went through a horrible time a couple months ago when Yahoo was losing my emails.

I use gmail as my filing cabinet for lots of things and not being able to retrieve mails is really causing a problem for me.

And the randomness of it seems really odd.

Did you finally get your problem resolved?

I sent and some emails others sent me. As it was an email I use for personal business, it really created some problems for me.

It may be stored there. I'm not sure it's gmail because it happened to me with Yahoo. It disappeared and then, some it at least. reappeared. I think it was a iCloud issue with me.

and I'm wondering if that is the problem.

I've changed my password and disabled the VPN for now.

So, I'm not using the mail.app.

I am also really flummoxed by this.

I am thinking it may have to do with going through a VPN. I turned it off and haven't noticed any missing mail since then. As per the last article you linked, I think that there may be an issue with forwarding.

* Forwarding, filters, or access using POP/IMAP any of which could be deleting messages.

I don't really know what this means, but I think that I had forwarded every email that I later could not locate.

And if that's the problem, I haven't the faintest idea how to resolve it.
