Uploading a GIPHY file from an Android phone to a post on DU.

I have no problems copying a GIF link from GIPHY on my laptop and having that link show up as a GIF when I paste the link into a post here. I have a GIF file in a couple of places on my Android phone and when I copy the links from those files and try to insert them in a DU post using my phone, the only thing that shows in the DU post are the links, not the GIF itself. Does anyone have any advice on whether or not it's possible to upload a GIPHY file on an Android phone to a post here on DU and, if so, how to make the GIF file, rather than the associated link, show up? Thanks for any answers!

you can't post an image in a DU post. It can only be a URL that points to an internet-based image. CurtEastPoint Jan 12 #1

If you browse the web and see a pic/gif, copy its link from the address bar and paste it in your post. This works on mobile as well as desktop. HOWEVER

Some links do not render (show) with the DU code. So in that case, I copy the gif to my camera roll, and then upload it to postimages.org (or other) that purposely gives you a nice DU-friendly link.

A gif on your phone will post only when it is in a browser tab (on the internet) or when uploaded to an image host, i.e. on the internet.

Your post was a bit ambiguous with the gif being on the phone and having a link. That only happens when it is in a browser tab, by one of the two means above.

HTH.
