Video Experts - A Question

I'm using a VidBox to convert DVDs of the band to MPEG to post on YouTube.
I've done it with three videos, no problem.
Using a different DVD though, I am having an issue with video & audio drifting out of sync. Ok, at the beginning, over a second off by the 4 minute point.
Any ideas as to why this is happening & is there a fix?

1. That's odd.

try another DVD and see if it still is happening. Assuming you not have a DVD/CD drive on your computer.

I've got an optical drive for my computer, but I can't use it for the VidBox.
That's Audio L&R in , and video in. Goes out through a USB.
The computer wouldn't have the outputs I need.
The other disk isn't a bad idea because when it worked right that was a different DVD.

3. if you have a optical drive for your computer

then you dont need the vidbox, at least the physical part. The software part may help. You can rip it straight from the optical drive to your computer.

7. If you dont have the VLC media player

get that and you can rip DVD's. Here is the link https://www.videolan.org/
From the Media menu, click Convert/Save. Select one or more files or an entire disc. You can choose a DVD, Blu-ray, audio CD, or VCD and set other options if you wish. Then click the button to convert your disc. After you hit the convert save button it takes you to a window, go to profile and save in whatever format you want.
Ive been using it for over a decade, shoot almost 2 decades now.

I know what happened.
I had been looking for a way to rip the audio from a DVD only, and that's what I found I couldn't do without pretty expensive software.
I got the 2 tasks mixed up.
I'll try that software.

10. No, That Was A Different Project

I just wanted to make CDs from the audio of my band DVDs.
For this conversation, I want to make MPEG or MP4 from DVD.
Also, I needed the VidBox as a digitizing format for home recording.

11. Pretty sure I can figure out how to rip just the audio from a DVD if you need that also.

Should be easy. What are you doing your recordings on? I do audio recording and video editing and work at a very large music store so if you have any questions just hit me up.

12. I Have A Tascam Console

Records direct to hard drive. I've had it for 20 years, so it doesn't have more contemporary interfaces.
There some multipin serial port, but that's only to download the digital audio data.
So, the only way to mix is to go D to A, then use the VidBox to go back to D.
I ordered a Behringer device 4 years back, but COVID shot down all their manufacturing in China.
The backorder wait time was "indefinite". So I got the VidBox.

It was just a little box right? I think I remember that. I love those old tascam hard drive recorders. Super stable and reliable. They have a new version out now that also doubles as a live mixer called the Model 8, 12 and 24. Almost got one of those about 2 years ago for live recording. Nice talking to you.

You may have been the one who recommended it, but none of the major music shops had them, with nothing on the horizon.
Mine is 16 channels, but only 8 can record at a time. If we had wanted to use it, we'd have to run a drum mixer & just run 2 channels of drums already mixed.
We never did that anyway.
