I cannot get my desktop printer to print over my wireless network

It will print if I connect a cable from my laptop.

The wireless indicator light is on and the printer shows 3 wireless bars in the display window.

I've checked goggle and can't seem to find anything that tells me what to do if my printer, while seemingly is connected to my wireless network, won't print.

Any thoughts?

I just really hate to have to spend $100+ on a new printer if I don't have to. But need my printer to work without it being attached by a cable.

4. I did reinstall the software. Not sure what happened.

It just stopped printing. Was fine one day, the next it just stopped.

you will have to enter the SSID adn password on the printer or using the software wizzard the printer came with

is your computer connected wirelessly or via an ethernet cable?

5. I did a network systems check from the printers menu.

According to the print out, the Signal strength is "excellent"
The SSID (Network Name) is correct.

Summary: Network is working correctly.

11. Have you tried a direct TCP/IP connection to the printer?

Go to control panel right click on the printer. Select printer properties. Click on the port tab. Select add port. Choose TCP/IP from the drop down and enter the IP address of the printer.

since windows 10 installed. I keep getting missing driver message when I try to trouble shoot.

6. I had that problem with an HP Color Laser

I had that problem with my laptop and desktop trying to print wirelessly to the HP. HP support fixed it fairly quickly after lots of trial and error, but I had to let them connect to the computers. They fooled around with printer DNS settings. When I got a new desktop, I made sure not to have any printer software installed, and the printer works flawlessly. I'm convinced it's HP software that messes things up. (All computers are Windows 10.)

You have to toggle things a bit/mess around a bit before it usually kicks in well.

Un-install your printer software, reboot, reinstall it again

Make sure you've followed all manufacturer directions from the PC or the printer control panel

Make sure it's the default printer and that your wireless router sees your printer with no issues.

Uninstall the fax machine (unless you really want to use it in Windows)

If all fails, call them on the phone. Good luck.

It's an epson workhorse 630 and I have loved it.

It has been a work horse. I do a lot of printing for several organizations I volunteer with and it has served me very well.

I did reinstall the printer software, but did not uninstall prior to reinstalling. Will try that approach.

10. Need info

First thing to try when something like that happens is reboot the router. If that doesn't fix it.


First go to the printer and look for either settings or maintenance. What you are looking for is a network report. There should be an option in settings somewhere to print one.

Print it out and then look at the wireless portion. There should be an ipv4 address listed. If the address starts with 169.
Then your printer is not connecting to the wireless correctly.

If it is anything else it should be ok unless it is blank or all zeros.

Now with that number you can re-establish the connection a couple of ways.

If you can get that IPV4 number I can take you through the rest of it .
