(39,671 posts)Laura Kelly has been a wonderful Governor doing a great job of clashing with the Neanderthals in the state. Im not looking for her pursuing the Senate Seat. Shell be 76 in 2026. She has earned a quiet retirement. If she ran Shed have my 100% support as would any Dem. Im looking for someone to come out of the blue so to speak. Kansas republicans provide so much to run against.

(34,352 posts)I have known her for a long time, we are not close friends but we are friends. I was surprised by this, I had never heard she was interested. Sharice yes but not Laura.

(39,671 posts)Took zero crap from the huff and puff Republican knuckleheads in Topeka. Today in the Topeka paper, the state gop committee was trying to neuter any Republican not towing the line. Created a big brouhaha. In typical conservative fashion the chairman said, not my idea blame someone else. And Kobach firing the law firm that was working on the electric bill forced overpayments, hasnt yet hired another one. But by gawd hes gonna fix the problem for all Kansans. Said the firm wasnt doing its job. Nothing in writing to that effect. Just say Brownback to a proud fiscally conservative Republican. Just for kicks.

(34,352 posts)and have not read the paper yet. Kobach is a scourge that we need to finally put to rest. I never thought we would be so stupid as to elect him again after practically throwing him out before. I am just waiting for the calls to Brownback to come back to office. I do not think he is that stupid.
Please forgive me, after my long run of activism I have taken a pause. I know what is going on but I don't KNOW what is going on anymore. I have not been to the state house for several years. It is a beautiful building after all the work but I just cannot make myself go just yet. Whew.
I read somewhere that Brownback is around, I am not happy about that because that guy is only around when he thinks he can bring you to his Lord or bring the state there. Thankfully I am never anywhere where I have to run into him unlike before. Gave me the creeps.

(39,671 posts)We went to the State Capitol for a visit. I tried but couldnt make it to the top. Vertigo or something. Lack of handrails? I dont do heights very well. It was unnerving for me.
Brownback is a grifter. Failed Kansas, quits. Trump gives him a socialist paycheck with a religious themed gig. He wants to bring someone to his lord so someone will bring their money to brownback. He gives me the creeps from afar. We must be good judges of character My Friend.

(34,352 posts)Brownback was in my home several times because my kids and his kids were in school together. I knew his wife slightly in college and always thought she was nice. When I had to do school things for our kids schools I always enjoyed being around her then...she...changed. It was too bad.
I think we should run things you and I could put things in order toot sweet.
I have never even tried to get to the top. Now I do not have the ability to breathe all the way up and heights bother me too.

(8,617 posts)Would she be an excellent candidate for the US Senate from KS in 2026 or is she too liberal to get elected? The perfect plan is for Laura Kelly to run against Roger Marshall in 2026, win, then let Sharice Davids succeed her in 2032. KS has not elected a Democrat to the US Senate since 1932. The other Democratic statewide elected official in KS(Lt Governor David Toland-D) is likely to run for Governor in 2026 to succeed Laura Kelly.

(39,671 posts)For any office. In some Kansas Counties Attila the Hun is too liberal, no reflection on Attila. Id like for conditions to allow Governor Kelly to have a long and happy retirement, she deserves it. I wont share with you what I think Roger Marshall deserves. David Toland Would make an outstanding Governor. Maybe well get lucky and Kobach will run against him.

(8,617 posts)Svaty served in the KS House of Representative from 2003-2009 representing Ellsworth,Saline, and Dickinson County. Ellsworth,Saline, and Dickinson County is located in KS-1st CD.
Paul Davis was the minority leader of the KS House of Representatives from 2009-2015. Ran for Governor in 2014 against Sam Brownback narrowly losing 49.8-46.1, Ran for the US House from KS-2 in 2016 losing to Republican nominee Steve Watkins 47.6-46.8.
National Democrats can do in the 2026 KS US Senate Election what they did in the 2022 UT US Senate Election. Endorse Greg Orman-KS in 2026 like they endorsed Evan McMullin-UT in 2022. We just need to hope Orman caucuses with the Democrats like Angus King-ME.
